National Wetland Inventory (NWI) Maps

Minnesota's Bookstore carries over 1,700 National Wetland Inventory maps charted in Minnesota during the 1980s. The maps use a U.S. Geological Survey naming convention and can only be searched by map title (also known as the "quad" or "quadrangle"), not by county. NWI maps are 24 inches by 36 inches and cover an approximate area of 52 square miles (33,000 acres). All maps are printed on demand using quality bond or water-resistent teslin paper.>

The maps use a hierarchical classification structure to identify wetland and deepwater habitats according to system, subsystem, class, subclass and modifiers as defined by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
